10 Decluttering jobs you can do in bed!
I bloody love Winter. I didn’t used too, but now I treat it like a hug, so it feels like one. Lots of time in bed resting, sleeping, journalling and planning. Or pottering around the house doing gentle decluttering jobs. Which inspired me to create this list!
It combines decluttering and my bed which is such a beautiful union I nearly wept.

10 decluttering jobs you can do from your bed!
1. Phone. Delete unused apps and organise the remaining apps into folders. Use the ‘groups’ app to delete multiple contacts at once (very satisfying!) Organise photos and delete duplicates. You don't even need to stand up for this one.
2. Bedside table. If like me, your bedside table is a bit dusty and has amassed things like books you’ve finished or dishes or creams you no longer use- take five minutes to clear it all. Organise it (re-home, donate or discard anything you no longer need) then put it back neatly. Add a candle or a small bottle of flowers for a bit of added joy.
3. Handbag. Go grab your handbag or rucksack. Empty everything out and go through what you're actually lugging around every day. Does all of it need to be in there? If you find that things get messy in your bag quickly, try using some cotton pouches to keep things organised (e.g. I have one for cables and tech stuff, one for toiletries first aid bits and sundries all organised into recycled cotton pouches). 4. Purse/Wallet. Similar to the above, empty everything out and deal with any receipts, old cards etc. Then, check your...
5. Key ring. Make sure you need all the keys and key rings you have on there. Do you have something you can add to make them more useful (I have a paint can opener on mine and its so useful!) or more beautiful?
6. Paperwork pile. 1) Switch to online billing for everything. 2) Go through the paperwork and shred or burn anything you don’t need. Advice here on what you need to keep. It’s surprising how little you actually need. 3) Organise what’s left into a manageable folder or drawer. I now have a small accordion file with important documents and some bills, and the rest is discarded. I go through this every year to take out anything we no longer need.
7. Bills. Go through your online bank accounts and look at every single direct debit and standing order you have set up. Tenners bet that there are some in there that you don’t need, didn’t know you had, or costing more than you thought.It’s a great time to go through your budget (or create one if you dont have one). Set or review savings targets, note when you need to switch credit card providers to avoid interest etc.
8. Laptop. Clear your desktop. Organise photos, delete any old documents, files or photos. Move large files to an external hard drive to free up space. Then clear your trash. So. Much. Spaaaaaace!
9. Make up and toiletries. Gather make up, toiletries, skin, nail and hair care together. Lay a towel on the bed then tip everything out. You might need to do this in phases if you have a lot! I donate any unopened good stuff to Beauty Bank . Lots of make up companies now offer recycle schemes (3 old mac lipsticks will get you a brand new one for example) and Superdrug will recycle any brand of make up in store. Organise make up, toiletries, haircare and skincare in small boxes to keep it neat.
10. Clothes. Start small with the underwear and try to work by category (i.e all knickers, all bras, all socks, all tights etc). Tip everything out and sort through it, getting rid of anything you haven't worn in a while, or is damaged/ past it's best. Look up your nearest rag recycling points for items like these. My local council will collect rags as part of their kerbside collection.
