Early Spring table inspiration…

This week we celebrate St Valentines Day, Galentines Day AND Pancake day, *does a quick frantic dance*, so feasting has been taking up many of my waking thoughts, and even featured in my dreams (not even a joke!) I'm hopefully heading to a girlfriends house this eve to hang with some of my besties,  and Dave and I will have a meal cooked at home this week at some point too. Galentines and Valentines don't have to be tat-fests, and they also do not have to be celebrated today/tomorrow. If you feel so inspired, you could arrange a gathering of gals/a dinner with your loved one, at any point this month. I personally love a pink themed dinner, or pink cocktails .

So with thoughts of feasting, a newly stocked props cupboard and a new studio, I set up a photoshoot to shoot some styling ideas for you.

Yes, studio.

ZOMG. (as the kids say) One of the many (many) gifts our new rental has given us is a bedroom large enough for us to use as a studio. We have taken a smaller bedroom (that is still much bigger than our last bedroom!) to enable this, and have already had a few photoshoots in the space. Dave shoots portraits and has had a few sessions at home already, and together we've shot a few still life projects also. We are working together more and more (and really like it) so it feels so exciting to have a studio space for both our individual work and our joint work. We are in the process  of getting some different backgrounds and lenses etc. It's all very exciting!

On to the pretty pictures!

I love the colours in the one, and how I accidentally matched with my scheme. I also love how grumpy I look too! Truthfully, I was shattered the day I took these pics, so this is a rather truthful depiction!

Roses of dreams.

Roses of dreams.

The formula is basically crinkly linen, beautiful ceramics, candles and flowers. I never get bored of it, and it is also blessedly simple. No complicated bouquets or arrangements, just masses of Roses and a couple of beautiful branches. I collect candle sticks and beautiful ceramics for dinners and styling shoots so they are on hand. (collected over a number of years.)

I fixated on gathering Magnolia branches and managed with the help of a local friend (thanks again Alexandra!) and I also sourced some beautiful Roses from Jane at Graham Greener in Whitstable- check those dusky lilacs, greys, peaches and pinks!
