Christmas table styling ideas: a round up

Tier 4 lockdown restrictions have just been announced for much of the South East of the UK, scuppering many peoples Christmas plans. Christmas is looking like it’s going to be an even smaller affair than we thought. But if you’re facing the prospect of a table for one or two, rather than ten or twelve, you still deserve a special day. Now more than ever. I have gone through my archives and pulled together some of my favourite Christmas tables to provide inspiration for your own table. None of the ideas are mega expensive or require buying much and can be pulled together fairly easily. I have added styling notes to each pic highlighting some of the ideas to steal.

Christmas Table Inspiration round up.

Simple solstice table

Styling notes: Ivy crowns for each guest, dried flower stems in individual bottles. Linen folded (purposefully!) imperfectly with cutlery on top. Candles grouped together in clusters, rather than spaced evenly.

A winter table with Habitat

Styling notes: Crockery in a stack, Linen placed underneath crockery with corners pointing downwards. Dried flowers. You don’t necessarily need to create a giant floral cloud (!) a few smaller bunches will look gorgeous.

A festive table with berry Brothers & Rudd

Styling notes: A garland or foliage (it doesn’t need to be attached together- long lengths placed down the centre work really well). Mini wreaths on the plates. Napkins in a knot.

A Table for my ebook, A Soulful Christmas Gathering

Styling notes: Simple conifer in little bottles (still my favourite Christmas decor) with stems of berries too (these are black Privett berries). Cosy textures on the chairs. Striped napkins. Read more about A Soulful Christmas Gathering.

A Christmas Place setting

Styling notes: Stacked crockery with a folded napkin sandwiched in the middle. Some sweet festive touches are placed on the top plates. A little sprig of fir (or is it spruce?! conifer?!) a tiny cluster of orange berries and a little bauble. Using baubles on the table adds a bit of festive cheer and sparkle.

My favourite ever Christmas table!

This was our Christmas table 3 years ago and is still my favourite. Styling notes: Insert a single stem of Thyme or Rosemary into your napkin ties. Place cosy textures on the chairs. Use extra tall candles to add drama (from The London Candle Co) Napkins are gathered and tied with string. To create napkins that look like this, fold your napkin into quarters, turn it so it’s diamond-shaped and then tie a string around the top quarter.

A pink and Gold table for Betty Magazine

A really fun table to pull together. Styling notes: lots gold to add sparkle and glamour, mixed with pink to add colour. Small vases of fresh flowers add life and colour.
